About CompressLab

CompressLab is a free video compressor that runs in your browser. It was built for everyday needs — getting a clip under Discord’s 10 MB, attaching a video to an email, freeing up space — and for professionals preparing files to strict specs: TV commercials, App Store previews, ad networks.

Besides compression there are tools to trim videos without re-encoding, add automatic subtitles from speech, and prepare films and series for TVs, boxes and projectors from a USB stick.

Under the hood it uses WebCodecs (your device’s hardware video encoder), the open-source Mediabunny library and OpenAI’s Whisper model via transformers.js. Nothing is uploaded; there is no file size limit. You can check it yourself: after the page has loaded, the tools keep working with the internet switched off.

Who runs it

CompressLab is made and run by an independent developer based in Cyprus. Platform limits and specifications on the site are checked against official documentation; each page shows when it was last updated.
