Crop or bars?
By default the picture is scaled to fill 1080×1920 and the sides are cropped — the usual look on TikTok and Reels. If important things are at the edges, open Resolution → Exact size and choose “Fit with bars”.
Settings used
- 1080×1920, 30 fps, H.264 at 8 Mbit/s
- AAC audio, 128 kbit/s, 48 kHz
- MP4 — accepted by TikTok, Instagram and YouTube
Instagram feed
For a post in the feed rather than Reels, 4:5 (1080×1350) takes more screen space than 9:16 — choose “Instagram feed 4:5” under Advanced → Preset.
Questions
What resolution should TikTok videos be?
1080×1920 (9:16). Lower resolutions work but look soft on modern phones.
Will a landscape video be cut?
With the default “Fill, crop edges” the sides are cut. Switch to “Fit with bars” to keep the whole frame.
