Why the TV ignores the track you set
MKV files can hold several audio tracks with a “default” flag, but many TV players simply take the first track. Some only show the audio menu while the video is playing, and tracks they can’t decode (DTS) are hidden entirely — so it looks as if the language can’t be changed.
One rule for the whole batch
- Languages are matched by their tags (eng/en, fra/fr, rus/ru…) and track names.
- If the preferred language is in DTS, it is converted so it plays.
- The result has exactly one audio track, so there is nothing to switch.
Questions
What if a file has no track in my language?
The next language in your list is used, then the default track, then the first one.
